about laura

Laura Rosenberg was a healthy, active, fun-loving 12-year-old student and older sister whose hopes and dreams for a carefree future were shattered when she was diagnosed with Acute Myelocytic Leukemia.

During her treatment over the following two and one-half years she fought with spirit, determination and courage that is rarely seen, especially in one so young.

Laura's approach to treatment and repeated hospitalizations at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center was one of acceptance and hope. She used her own adjustment as an example, and opened her hospital room to all-anytime of the day or night to help the other children and their families accept their diagnosis, treatment, and outcome.

By living as normal a life as possible in the face of the most disruptive circumstances and extending herself without hesitation, Laura demonstrated to us a wisdom beyond her years.

On October 14, 1981, Laura lost her personal fight to leukemia.
